Social Monkee advertises itself as a cheap way of improving your site’s SEO and getting more traffic. It’s true that Social Monkee is only $7 for the lowest level of membership, but getting these backlinks will not do anything to help your website. This type of link-building strategy no longer works, and your website will likely be penalized very harshly from Google for violating their terms of service.

A Clear Violation of Google’s TOS

There is one very clear reason to stay away from using Social Monkee to build backlinks: it is against Google’s terms of service, and you run the risk of having your site removed from Google’s index. That means you can kiss the hope of gaining traffic goodbye, and your website will not come up in Google for any of your keywords.

Ever since Google began the “Penguin” update, it has been against the rules to use software that automates backlinks. As it says in the Google Webmasters Guidelines, it is absolutely forbidden to use “automated programs or services to create links to your site.”

Google Webmasters Guidelines

This is not a risk worth taking, since Google takes this type of violation extremely seriously. Once Google realizes that your website has backlinks that come from automated software, you will be in a terrible position. The most likely punishment is that your site will be completely removed from Google’s index for violating their guidelines.

Site Removed From Google's Index

Webmasters that used automated backlinks in the past are now trying to do everything they can to get rid of these backlinks, since they can be very damaging. You would have to be crazy to spend money on Social Monkee to purposely get these types of backlinks after Google’s Penguin update.

Worthless Backlinks

Social Monkee uses a very outdated model for link-building which has become completely irrelevant for marketers. Social Monkee focuses entirely on the number of backlinks that your website has and sells itself a way of gaining 25 backlinks a day.

Focus Is On 25 Backlinks

But this is no longer how link-building works—it is no longer about quantity but about quality. If you want to improve the SEO of your website quickly, you have to focus on the quality of your backlinks and nothing else.

This means that backlinks to your site should come from relevant websites that are in your niche. Unfortunately, the backlinks from Social Monkee come from random social bookmarking sites that will not provide any SEO value to your site.

It doesn’t matter if the total number of backlinks to your website increases if they are the type that Social Monkee provides. Instead of wasting your time with backlinks from low-grade social bookmarking sites, spend your time getting backlinks from authority websites in your niche.

In this regard, it is very misleading for Social Monkee to advertise the “2013 version” of its product. This is an extremely outdated system that has no place in 2013.

Social Monkee Is NOT For 2013

Pointless Upsells

As if the Social Monkee product isn’t bad enough already, one of the things that I really dislike is that they try to upsell you more expensive versions of the product. In fact, the main difference between the “silver version” and the more expensive “premium” and “elite” versions is the number of backlinks that you get.

Premium Version Is A Waste Of Cash

But as I explained above, it’s not the quantity of backlinks which matters anymore, just the quality. In reality, the Elite version of Social Monkee will provide no more benefit to your website than the Silver version. Even still, the people behind Social Monkee advertise the more expensive version as a way to get “even better rankings.”

Upsell Won't Help Your SEO

If anything, the opposite is true. The more spammy backlinks that your site has from Social Monkee, the more likely it is that your website will be removed from Google’s index.

Final Analysis: Stay Far Away

Backlinks play an important role in improving the SEO of your website, but not in the way that Social Monkee works. These types of spammy backlinks will not help improve the SEO of your website, since they are low quality pages that are unrelated to your site’s niche. This type of automated backlinking goes against Google’s new rules, and they can punish your website by removing it from its index. Stay far away from Social Monkee and do SEO that will actually help your website improve its search engine rankings and gain more traffic.
